The Hampstead Synagogue is a modern, forward-thinking, orthodox, community. Today, it is under the leadership of Rabbi Dr. Michael Harris who joined us in 1995. His guiding philosophy is based on four principles- Zionism, an openess to secular studies, universalism and enhancing the role of women in the Jewish community.
We are proud to offer something for all our members. On Shabbat and Festivals we have alternatives to the Main Service catering for children and sometimes for young adults. We have explanatory services and discussions open to all on High Holydays. We have an active Ladies Guild, a Welfare Committee and LAUNCH, our dynamic group for those in their twenties and thirties. We have a Friendship and Luncheon Club, a Mother and Toddler group, visiting guest speakers, shiurim, social, cultural and educational programmes. There is something for everyone!
Teenagers play a big role at Hampstead and are valued members of the community; stewarding, davening, leining, delivering sedra summaries or helping with events, parties, plays and children’s services.
We are a very friendly and welcoming community.
