Welcome Guest! |

Hospitality

The JCLG is a task-force comprising of the U.K.’s leading Jewish communal organisations that has been established to plan the Jewish community’s participation in the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

This welcoming  and, hopefully, user friendly website has been formed to give you, our guest, all the relevant information and advice required to ensure your stay is crammed with helpful, enjoyable  and entertaining experiences, which provide you with lasting memories of the Games.

Richard Fellman, former Maccabi GB chairman, put it this way:

“The Olympic Games in London and throughout Great Britain 2012 provides a wonderful opportunity for the Jewish community to demonstrate its warmth and vibrancy to our overseas guests.

When my wife and I recently visited Buenos Aires for the Pan American games we were overcome by the kindness and warmth of the local Jewish community who provided us with a support network, of information and assistance together with remarkable hospitality.

This is one of the great pillars of Jewish values….. “Gemilut Chesed” acts of loving kindness. This reminds us that we are part of a greater whole, and emphasises the importance of putting others first.

This is not to be confused with mitzvot which are laws given to us by the Torah, but acts of kindness that are not legislated, and with no thought of personal reward.

Providing hospitality to visitors and travellers is a traditional act of loving kindness, and just one of the ways in which we can assist.

Volunteering is an important part of our community where we can all come together to assist others and make them feel welcome, and it is wonderful to know that so many people in our community can find time in their busy daily schedules to offer assistance to others.

Through the Jewish Volunteering Network there will be many opportunities for you to become involved in giving some of your time both during the Games and of course on other occasions.”

We also hope you will receive a traditional warm and hospitable Jewish experience of the Games and to facilitate the planning of such an experience, we have composed a short survey that we believe will help identify any possible needs or requirements.

We would ask that you take just a couple of minutes to complete the survey online, and to make things easier, you can access it by clicking on the link.

We look forward to receiving your responses and thank you in advance for your cooperation.
